I'll start by saying that if you have watched the UK version of this(Which by the way was made by Channel 4 and Company Pictures and NOTthe BBC as these other reviews suggest) You probably won't enjoy thisfirst episode. Luckily for me starting Sunday JanuIget to hang out with the Gallagher family. This was a family I wanted to knowand to hang out with. Just Lazynessof the public I guess and showtime must have known the people wouldn'thave made the effort to watch something from the uk which depicts animage of the normal people from England and not this uptight poshimage(Hugh Grant) that all American paint in almost every film i'vseen. Even when I watcha film in Spanish I can get the Idea of whats going on. I'v watched many American films where theaccents are a little hillbilly and difficult to understand, but I stillwatch them and get used to the accents pretty quick. Fionas part isplayed by Emmy Rossum and in the dancing scene in the 1st episode shewas trying too much to dance the same as the Uk Fiona and by doing thisshe ruined the scene which is supposed to resemble ' dancing likethere's no noe watching'.All in all it's not bad but nowhere near as the original so far.I still don't understand why they needed to remake a Great show when wespeak the same language. Thesecond episode was better I thought, and it had more of Frank in it.Willian H Macy is a great actor, but it is a very hard roll to take offhe's to posh spoken to be a Frank Gallager and he dosn't really remindme of any alcaholic pill head i'v ever met.Joan Cusack for Sheila I thought was the perfect pick and I lookforward to seeing her crazy part take off in the story. I watched the first episode and it would have been quite a good show ifI hadn't seen the Uk version (which is actually a Great show).
